“The greatest ornament genius, Austria has possessed since the Baroque” (Berta Zuckerkandl) defines next Hoffmann the certain style of the Wiener Werkstätte since 1915. Studies at the Technical University in Vienna until 1910, at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1908 until 1911. He joined the Wiener Werkstätte in 1915 and was part of it until his death. During this time working with the Artistic Atelier Schleiß, Gmunden. From 1917 to 1918 director of the branch in Zurich, which he also set up. The first time he enters to the public with great success was 1913 at the wallpaper exhibition. In his work full of refinement and imagination, the ornament plays a major role. He brought elegance to the functional and took its sobriety away from the New Objectivity through grace and ease. He was involved in all major exhibitions, including: International Art Exhibition in Rome in 1914, Werkbund exhibition in Cologne in 1914, Kunstschau 1920, German trade show in Munich 1920, posthumously Dagobert Peche Memorial Exhibition 1923, Paris 1925.
